Asphalt Paving

Roadway, driveway, and parking lot paving are our primary services. Whether your pavement suffers from severe potholes, alligator cracking, or other weather, grading, or drainage issues, we can solve it.  There are two methods of laying asphalt, the condition of your current pavement is the largest factor in which is used.

Asphalt Overlay: When your roadway or parking surface is in poor condition but has a solid base an overlay is an option. This consists of laying 2 inches of new asphalt on top of the existing surface.  Whenever the existing layer of asphalt won’t adequately support the new layer, the process can also be performed by doing asphalt milling first to shave off a portion of the previous layer followed by an overlay.

Asphalt Replacement: When both your asphalt and sub-base are in poor or severely deteriorating conditions a complete replacement is recommended. The existing asphalt is torn out and removed. An additional gravel base is installed, graded, and compacted. Then a 2.5-3″ asphalt layer is applied on top.

Asphalt Patching & Repair

Asphalt patching is an effective way to extend the life of your existing paved surface. This consists of milling the current pavement and replacing it with hot asphalt. On smaller holes, a cold patch is typically used as a more affordable alternative to the hot patch.

Crack Filling

Crack filling is the first line of defense against pavement deterioration. Crack sealers are designed to seal cracks and joints against moisture penetrating into the sub-grade. We use a high-grade rubberized crack sealant. Crack sealing helps prevent water from entering cracks and reduces damage to freezing/thaw cycles. Due to the high rubber content, the sealer has the ability to expand and contract with the movement of the pavement.

Line Striping

Howe Asphalt can professionally handle all your road surface marking and parking lot striping needs using only high-quality paints.
